The Sturgis Mobile Response Team (SMRT) is a pilot program dedicated to filling gaps in out-of-hospital health care. The program provides in-home screenings and assessments at the orders of a doctor. It is designed to reduce non-emergency 9-1-1 calls. The program's initial funding was provided by a grant from the State of South Dakota's Department of Health. The SMRT team can bill for these services, providing a revenue source. There are staff members who work 40 hours each week Monday through Friday with at least one on-call every weekend. Currently, patients who live with City limits are eligible for this service. | ![]() |
